Alicia M. Wright (They/She) began graduate school at UC San Diego in 2017 specializing in Linguistic Anthropology. They received their B.A. in Anthropology and Linguistics from the University of Chicago in 2015 and their M.A. in Anthropology from UCSD in 2019. Their current research investigates the linguistic and sociocultural relationships between Black Deaf signers and American Sign Language-English interpreters in the U.S. with a focus on race, gender, language variation, translatability, and neutrality. Her general research interests include language and its interactions with race, gender, and language ideology; American Sign Language and its dialects; and sign language interpreting.
